A little about me

John Walker

Mountain Leader

John started hill walking at school and in the scouts during early forays to the Lake District with rudimentary kit but a thirst for adventure. At university he started rock climbing and scrambling and began winter mountaineering in Scotland; a passion which continues to this day. Family life meant hill days became gentler for a while but soon holidays started to incorporate mountains in Scotland, Wales and his beloved Lake District. Trips to the Alps followed for rock climbing, mountaineering and walking.

With a little more time on his hands, John became a “dogsbody” for Lake District Mountain Rescue Seachdogs, working with Mountain Rescue team members and their dogs. He also participates in their winter avalanche training each year where he can put his experience into practice.

John is a qualified Summer Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aider. His particular interests are helping people develop their skills in the mountains so that they appreciate the environment and enjoy it to the fullest. Whether complete novices or those wanting to take the next step to more difficult or higher terrain, a bespoke mountain day with John will build confidence and enhance your enjoyment of the hills.
